Seeing the Cultural Activities in Great Temples in Bali
Besides the awesome beaches and glamorous nightlife, Bali is also the place where cultural activities are still done by most of the local people. Many temples are built in many spots of the island and it shows that the people never leave their tradition. For many tourists and travelers, the local cultural activities are interesting sights to see. They will know the religious activities of the local people in the middle of glamorous and modernity of the city. To see the interesting cultural traditions of Balinese people, you can visit some temples. Two of the most well-known temples are Palace of Satria and the Royal Temples and Pura Agung Jagatnata.
Palace of Satria and the Royal Temples
Palace of Satria and the Royal Temples is located in Jl.Veteran; to the north from Alun – Alun Puputan about 300 meters. This temple is opened for local people that want to do their religious activities and also the tourists that want to see the traditional cultures of Balinese people. It opens daily from 8 am – 4 pm. It was actually a palace and the templeowned by the Denpasar royal family. Until today, it is well maintained so it becomes a beautiful and admirable place for Bali residents doing their religious activities. There are some decorative carvings made beautifully here.
Pura Agung Jagatnata (Jagatnatha Temple)
Jagatnata Temple is located in the same area with Bali Museum; on the northern boundary. The temple was established in 1953 as a dedication to the highest Sanghyang Widi Wasa in the Hindu belief. It is opened for public for all worshipersand no restriction, because it doesn’t belong to the village temple, but as a government building. Twice a month, great ceremonies are held in this temple; especially in the times of new moon and full moon. Every tourist must amaze to see the ceremonies and they will remember it as great experience. Besides, this temple is also visited by Balinese prayer all the time.
Pura Agung Jagatnata consists of some shrines that spread on the sprawling courtyards. The shrines are made in different shapes symbolizing the gods and goddess of Balinese Hindu, the worshiped animals as well as the other things related to the belief.Entering the temple for the first time, you will amaze the gateway that is decorated by wonderful patterns. The patterns store some stories from epics of Hindu. Besides, you also can see some carvings of gods and goddess on the walls, as well as the cared stones in some spots in the temple. On the outer courtyard, you will find a huge statue of fierce demon. Also see the small gallery in the middle of the courtyard with moat surrounding.

Tourists are allowed visiting the temple since you wear special outfit to respect the holy temple. The outfit should be a sarung and sash.
